Situation
Redwings is a Norfolk-based charity which works to provide welfare, care and protection of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. The charity cares for more than 1000 rescued horses across the UK and has placed 500 in Guardian Homes. They have operated an adoption scheme by post which allows sponsors to be associated with a particular animal.
The charity operates Redwings and Young Redwings websites, but it was felt that a separate minisite was required for the adoption scheme.
Action
The site offers increased interaction to add value to the adoption process and maintain more regular contact with the adoptee. Visitors can see pictures of the animals available for adoption and read their histories.
On payment of the fee, adoptees are given a password to log into their 'nosebag' for details of their new friend, with diary entries, photos, videos, game and details of how to visit.
Spring designed the branding, format and layout of the site, together with the games, and provided all programming, including shop and content management. Results
The site went live in June 2008. Within the first couple of weeks, 26 people transferred their adoptions to the online versions and a further 21 bought the new on-line adoptions. The idea of the site attracted significant media coverage.Details
